Makerere University Business School (MUBS) established MUBS Economic Forum (MEF) in 2011 to provide leadership in provision of knowledge and information for capacity building and effective integration of Economics in decision making and practice. The aim is to improve welfare of citizens and households as well as socioeconomic transformation in Uganda, the region and beyond.

The MEF, exists as a semi autonomous unit within the Department of Economics and Energy with a core goal to support the realization of the MUBS Mission by creating and providing information that will empower her clients to effectively manage the present and build a secure future.
